In Indonesia abortion services are rife with discrimination. Many unmarried women are not given abortions because of long-held traditional beliefs over motherhood and family. This often forces women into back ally abortion "clinics" where conditions are unsafe, and experiences are often traumatic.
"Abortion is a medical procedure that can save the lives of women. The process should be simple, fast and safe. If the information and medical technology are available and accessible, why should abortion be tragic and traumatic, as it so often is in Indonesia?"
