Abortion Laws and Policies
Get abortion pills | Claim your rights
Access to abortion is a fundamental human right and a basic healthcare. If you live in a country where access to abortion is restricted, you can get abortion pills through Women on Web.
Local context
Abortion on request is not authorized. It is permitted up to 12 weeks of pregnancy in cases of rape. In the case of a girl under the age of 14, the gestational limit is fourteen weeks. It is permitted in cases of fetal impairment or if the pregnancy endangers the woman or person's life. For these cases no limitation regarding the lengths of pregnancy is mentioned in the legal text.
Minors under the age of 14 are required to obtain adult consent for an abortion.
Abortion seekers are required to go through mandatory counseling prior to abortion.
Penal law criminalizes women and pregnant people for having an abortion outside of the conditions specified in the law. Abortion providers and people who assists may be criminalized for an abortion outside of the conditions specified in the law.
Medical practitioners and providers have the right to refuse abortion services based on personal beliefs.
However, medical practitioners and providers are obligated to refer individuals to another provider if they refuse service. So called conscientious objection cannot be practiced in cases where the life of the woman or pregnant person is at risk.

Overview
Abortion in Chile is legal and medically assisted only under certain circumstances.
If none of these 3 circumstances is given, abortion is illegal and it is possible to get abortion pills from specific organizations (such as WomenOnWaves) at a reasonable cost or from many, many private, anonymous sellers at an elevated cost. Nevertheless, not all these private sellers and the information they provide about how to use the medicine are trustworthy, so caution is essential.!
